The Town of The Blue Mountains is requesting Proposals from Bidders to provide services associated with a comprehensive leak detection survey and pinpoint leaks on water transmission, distribution and service pipelines. The
distribution system consists of approximately 130 kilometres of watermain
ranging in sizes up to 400 mm. Watermain materials consist of PVC, polyethylene
(Municipex), ductile iron, cast iron, asbestos cement and high-density
polyethylene. The system has a total of six different pressure zones, with some
areas experiencing pressures up to 105PSI. The Town currently has approx. 920 fire hydrants. Distribution facilities consist of an elevated tank, four booster stations, two above ground reservoirs complete with booster stations, two above ground reservoirs and one standpipe. The Town has a significant water loss, roughly 20% of unaccounted-for water. In 2019 alone, the Town has identified and repaired five (5) watermain leaks. In 2018, the Town identified and repaired nine (9) watermain leaks. The Town is undertaking a water loss survey to reduce the unaccounted-for water. |
