Description:

This Request for Proposals (the “RFP”) is an invitation by The Corporation of the Town of The Blue Mountains (the “Town”) to qualified proponents to submit proposals to the Corporation of the Town of The Blue Mountains (the “Town”) for Craigleith Depot HVAC Replacement, as described in Section A of the RFP Particulars (Appendix B) (the “Deliverables”).

The Craigleith Heritage Depot, located at 113 Lakeshore Rd E, Craigleith, Ontario is a municipally owned heritage structure originally constructed in approximately 1880 as a railway station serving the Northern Railway of Canada corridor along Southern Georgian Bay. The building is a one-storey wood-frame structure of traditional light-frame construction situated on a compact rural lot adjacent to Highway 26 and the Georgian Bay shoreline. The facility currently functions as a museum, archive, and community heritage centre and contains a combination of public exhibit space, storage areas, administrative functions, and support spaces. The approximate building footprint is modest in scale, consistent with late 19th-century railway station design, and is characterized by relatively low ceiling heights, compartmentalized interior spaces, and limited concealed service areas.

The objective of the project is to provide a modernized environmental control system capable of supporting museum and archival preservation standards appropriate for heritage collections and public occupancy spaces.

Located between the Niagara Escarpment and the shores of Georgian Bay, the Town of The Blue Mountains is recognized as a premier four-season destination offering a lifestyle as diverse as its natural surroundings. Whether establishing roots, seeking adventure, or enjoying relaxation and wellness, the community provides an exceptional quality of life.

The Town is home to more than 9,300 full-time residents and welcomes approximately 2.5 million visitors annually, along with a significant part-time and seasonal population. It offers small-town charm supported by modern services and amenities.

The local economy is shaped by agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, recreation, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit reflected in a dynamic business community.
